One Year

Congratulations on surviving a year in SL, Caleb.

Yeah, I lured you into this nightmare. But at least there's plenty of unicycles, right?

For those of y'all who heard the debut of Halleluyuck but didn't quite catch the lyrics Caleb mostly wrote:

I know I've heard this song before
I know this beat, I know these chords
I bet you think you know it too but do ya?
It goes like this the 4th the 5th
The minor fall and the major lift
Another asshole singing hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah

I've heard some Leonard Cohen songs
Bittersweet and not too long
But one's been over done so much it's screwed up.
It once was great but now its shit
And now I can't listen to it
But you keep wanting Buckley's hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah

You mix and match from versions past,
Some are slow and some are fast
But you think you can be the last now do ya?
But every SL Musician
Thinks they feel the song within
And they just can't stop singin' hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah

It started as a challenge from Dolmere to come up with a version of Hallelujah that would fit within an atheist's repertoire, but I was never quite about to get God completely out of the equation.

So, I went to Caleb with the seeds, threw up a rickety trellis, and he pretty much did the rest.

Maybe he'll put it on The SixtyOne, or next week's Oddcast?

We'll see.

I just wanted to see something built out of matzo.

It was all very Rogers and Hart meet Allen Sherman with a large dollop of pure Bullen.... was the best live set ever.... thoroughly original@! Was happy to attend to hear Caleb's set at Open Mike and look forward to more@!@!
