Remember the David Macaulay book Unbuilding, where he tells the tale of the Empire State Building's dismantlement for shipping to another country after a sale?
I think of that book when I tear down a build to put up a new one:
I was really, really sick of the matzoh clocktower and I've been playing with the idea of a brass dome and waterworks for a while.
With a little effort, I got the dome over the existing venue, but I'll need to play with the gears and ducts to spread them out in the expanded footprint.
I don't have much room in the dome part of the new tower, so I won't have as much art on display.
Unless, of course, I raise the entire structure by 10 meters and add 2 levels of floorspace.
I may just do that, as long as the top of the build doesn't come near the clouds.
