Corner

The Northwest corner of Nowhereville may be opening up soon. Current resident's focusing on RL, moving forward with their life.

So much to say. And yet, this is one of those chew the toothpick and nod moments.

And think of friend.... and a grey fluffy cat and smile, too, I might add.

So, the process begins...

  • Someone announces they're planning on or thinking of moving out.
  • Island members are given the opportunity to shift around or take that area for their own.
  • If not taken, announcement is made that it's open, and island members are encouraged to ask around if anybody's interested.
  • A list is assembled of all interested parties.
  • Island members go over the list to determine who everyone can agree on should be invited in.
  • Induction ceremony takes place, new resident moves in.

Well, okay. It's often more like zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz (snort) zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz (mrmble mrble "I'm fine with anybody") zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz (coin toss) "Welcome to the island, X!"

Heh. Folks get busy, happens. All's cool.

For now, it's just a half-parcel, 36x72 with 800 prims, terraforming rights, estate/region manager so you can kick the crap out of interlopers, either have some building skill or have a builder/store handy, blah blah blah. The corner means you've got the ability to do cross-sim bridging if you want (as long as it doesn't interfere with a normal-height sailboat.) and it's on the West side for a good view of sunsets. (No, there's not going to be a sim to the West, nor will there be an openspace/void.)

Right now, the terraform's clipped out a bit of the land corner. I kinda like the idea of docks and piers out over water, or maybe sink it a bit further and park a house boat... or just have a sandy beach with a skybox at 1,000 meters or whatever.

An ugly squared off minimaxed corner, on the other hand, well... bleh. Come on. Close your eyes. Let the land whisper in your ear, just as the sculptor heard the angel in the marble and set it free.

If there's folks interested, toss me a note and I'll send you the numbers with dollar signs after them and the terms and the blah blah blah, folks to talk to about my cruel and evil management style, etc and so forth.

And if you're interested in a full plot instead of just that half plot, you're welcome to chat with the person in the other half of that parcel in case they're ready to take a long break. Never hurts to ask, but I think they're going to be staying.

Sitting on Daphne's bridge with GoSpeed, fishing... thinking.

You know, I've decided to do something I've been meaning to do for a long time...

Now there's two ends to the infamous broken bridge.

A followup thought... no, I didn't put in a SLURL in that post.

Look, if you don't know how to:

  • Find a sim through Map and teleport there.
  • Find the Northwest corner using Minimap as a compass.
  • Identify a location using visual landmarks from a snapshot.
  • Turn on parcel boundaries to see the outline of the parcel.

Then don't ask me about the parcel.

No, not everybody in the community is a wizbang scripter, builder, viewer-fu ninja master at SL.

Hey, it was worth a plug for the viddies, right?
