Character

When the drama and monotony and worry get me down, I try to make it to the occasional Office Hour to breathe in the aura of enthusiasm for the platform, social dynamic, and innovation.

The true believers. The optimists. The folks who are rolling up their sleeves and running the zamboni which resurfaces the ice we all skate on.

Of course, I was late to Prospero's office hour yesterday.

But better late than never.

I find myself asking softball questions, like:

"What are you most enthusiastic about?"
"What one misconception about SL do you wish people would get cleared up?"
"What mistake did you learn the most from making right?"

And the answers clear away the cobwebs, and it's easier to focus on what needs enjoying and what needs getting over.

Consider the character Prospero... Shakespeare... the island... the story...

You can tell a lot about someone by what they build and how they present themselves and the vessel they breathe themselves into.

And yet, does crafting such a role become a kind of prison in which it's hard to break out of?

Trapped, perhaps, on the island?

(Thank goodness for alts, eh.)
