Show, Tell, and Get Your Ass Stomped In The Voting (and love it)

One of my favorite times of the week is Show And Tell on Lummerland every Sunday st 2PM.

People show off the cool stuff they've cobbled together, and every now and then I get an idea for a project of my own.

When those projects are finished, I put on my helmet and rung up Flo to let her know I'm ready to get my ass stomped in the voting.

Now now now - I don't say this in a resentful tone or a sullen tone. I'm actually enthusiastic about getting my ass stomped in the voting. Because those doing the ass-stomping are damn good designers, builders, and developers.

Yup. Pandora herself, going Old School with the topter, not needing to rice it out like fragile egos such as myself.

Shattered easily by such master creators, and glad to have been crushed to handily.

These folks come up with the neat stuff on a consistent and relentless basis, and they are an inspiration.

To be defeated at the polls like a candidate envying Ralph Nader's totals, well, it's a hoot.

Heck, didn't Tyler Durden give out an assignment for the members of Fight Club to go pick a fight and lose?

As I rezzed the tower's frame 700 meters up, after two hours of getting the linksets to the point where they'd quickly rez, I knew I was going to get pasted, and it didn't matter. (I needed to do that anyway so I'd have a backup of the tower should someone get funky with the Deletes and Returns by accident.)

It's just the thrill of showing off something that might spark someone else to take things one step beyond. (And I hope that HoloCluck Henly gets a chance to see what his deco diner inspired in me.)

Who knows what someone out there will come up with next... and maybe spark something in my mind for the next tower?

Holocluck Henly:

lol I go into Show n Tell thinking the same thing. I get my ass kicked by greatness. It's always an honor to hear I've influenced someone in a good way, but you know I'm a fan of that style and have only seen a couple of close-ups so far. When I get that new PC and get back into SL in earnest, I'm going to have to head on over to Edloe and check it out.

Kumi Kuhr:

Flo's show & tell is that most wonderful thing in SL -- a great crowd, fantastic creations, and no 'attitude'.

I've only made one thing in SL and Flo encouraged me to show it one night. The suggestions from the audience were brilliant and as it was an interactive piece the audience participation and laughter really made it a treat for me and my reservations/nerves melted away.

(I got 4th that night btw.)

Ilsa Munro:

Ohhh that's me! Am I famous now?

Actually "are We famous now" is the proper question. My unseen partner - Virrginia Tombola was on holiday that particular weekend so couldn't attend the show. She's responsible for making the Eagle gorgeous - she did the sculpting and textures as well as developing the very clever smooth flapping scripts for the wings.
