Simplification

The Gomem DeSoto Memorial Bridge used up over 100 prims in the previous design.

After taking a look at Tobias Novi's bridges again, I grabbed a few more pieces from the Denkmark treehouse and threw together this more realistic one:

lower prim bridge

The plank sections now bow with gravity and use only 1 prim instead of 5 or 6 per section.

Sure, it's a rougher ride for cars or bikes, but that's how a plank bridge would be, right?

I saw a really nice plank bridge in the Metaverse Week In Review with Malburns and Tara Yeats this weekend. Wetopia's more of a meeting/dating place than a builder's sandbox and fleamarket like Second Life, but they sure do have pretty graphics.

The next step is to work with Dedric on one between Woodbridge and Edloe that also allows sailing boats to pass under.

I'd like it to use his white wooden covered bridge design, which won't be easy to scale or angle, but we'll find a way.

I put a model on Ducky's dock/deck that should work, but it won't be easy to render up the ends.
