Gary Buono performing at the LOL Club...
He's gotten a lot better, his timing and pacing have vastly improved, he is a lot more comfortable with his delivery, and I was laughing a lot last night. He's also got the beginnings of a good AO for standup, although he added some stage-walks manually that fit in well to add to the mood. He's also involving the audience a bit more with the material... and he's watching their reaction and adding in an extra punch if something works well.
Lauren, you've got company. And it's name is Gary Buono.
I needed the laughs last night because I was feeling pretty bleh last night after having to pull the trigger on something I'd hemmed and hawed about for a long time.
Yeah yeah yeah, uneasy lies the head that wears the crowd. Stop reminding me.
So, Gary noodged me over and over until I got the microphone going and did a few minutes of my own stuff.
Which, if you know how I run, was totally pulled-out-of-my-ass wound-up neurotic rambling improv.
I don't remember a damn word of it except "My sister and I were thinking of going to the Alabama sim and getting partnered."
I go over possible routines in my head, improving it to an imaginary audience, and then picking out and writing down the lines that work.
Heck, that's what the Twitter feed is for most days.
I think I'll be doing more storytelling and occasional last-minute improv routines, although doing a live show Wednesday, the Los Arboles sadness and scramble, the MetaNews recording Thursday afternoon, and the standup in the evening really wore me out.
Oh well. Just turn the key a few more times and let me loose.
Tinsel_Silvera: @SecondLie roflmao. thanks for the morning chuckle!/blockquote>Even the hopeless drunk is knocking them dead.
