Five Islands
The Five Islands group of regions consists of the following:
- Harbour
- Piper Point
- Edloe
- Nowhereville
- Corbenic (Semiprivate)
- Marilys (Semiprivate)
- Watermoon Breeze (Commercial)
- Isis Cove (Mixed Use)
Past members of this group are:
- Asguard
- Los Arboles
- Woodbridge
- Mare Draconus
- Camalot
- Orcahorse
- Pitt Island
- BlaksleeWorld
The membership has increased and decreased with the fortunes of the various sim owners/administrators.
Los Arboles is owned by Deb Quintessa and remains in the general Five Islands area, but is not connected to the core sims.
The goal has always been maximum access and functionality for minimum cost and conflict.

THE EDLOE OWNERSHIP MODEL
All of the member islands are currently in the name of Crap Mariner ("Five Islands Tyrant" "Nowhereville Tyrant" "Piper Point Tyrant") and follow the basic "Edloe" model.
- Establish 20-meter water buffer around region
- Divide remainder of sim into 3x3 grid consisting of 72mx72m parcels
- Deed island to group
- Grant Owner level permission to all residents along with Estate/Region Manager
- Divide cost equally among residents
- Allocate 1666 prims to each resident
- Leave 1 parcel fallow, but encourage residents to allocate a few prims towards it
- Govern all island-wide matters (season changes/themes/major events/membership) through Google Group discussions - Let's try to keep it civil without being too silly.
- Maintain a high level of visual appeal while minimizing scripting/load impact on sim
- Objects should be rezzed as group, auto-return in public spaces set to 120 minutes to avoid clutter
- Permissions must be set so that the ferryboat can travel through the area
- If you're putting something in the sky, try to make it at least 128m above or below anything else
(Even though the parcels are 72m by 72m squares, you're welcome to work out with your neighbors prim-swapping and overlapping land features and builds. Consider the lines to be guidelines and not hard boundaries.)
Openings are advertised on my social network platforms, and all interested parties are presented to current residents who vote on which one will be invited to move in. It is assumed that if you're happy where you are, you'd want your friends to be there too.
Residents are strongly encouraged to resolve issues on their own, since they have full access and permission to do so, but can seek my assistance when they cannot resolve it themselves.
Visitors to and permanent guests of residents are the responsibility of those residents. General visitors are the responsibility of all.
GOLDEN RULE DESIGN PHILOSOPHY
My own design philosophy is that every prim should have some kind of utility or power to tell a story.
If it doesn't carry its weight, it doesn't get rezzed.
Also, something that looks spectacular on its own may not look so great in the context of other parcels, designers, and styles. Balance the styles and decisions of others with your own to make for a harmonious and attractive environment.
Most people share that philosophy on the Five Islands.
